How to Choose the Right Therapist or Psychiatric Provider in Nevada
What should I look for in a therapist?
Start with your goals. Are you looking to manage anxiety, heal from trauma, or work on relationships? From there, choose someone trained in approaches that match your needs, like CBT, DBT, or EMDR. All of our therapists are licensed in Nevada and offer structured, evidence-based care.
What’s the difference between a therapist and a psychiatric provider?
A therapist helps you explore your emotions, behaviors, and thought patterns through regular sessions. A psychiatric provider (like a nurse practitioner or psychiatrist) evaluates symptoms and prescribes medication when needed. You can work with both at Henderson Mental Health for a coordinated plan.
How do I know if a provider is licensed in Nevada?
All of our providers are fully licensed or supervised under Nevada Board-approved internship programs. You can verify licenses through the state’s online database, or ask us directly.
Do I have to live in Henderson or Las Vegas to work with you?
No. Our virtual model lets us serve clients across Nevada, including Carson City, Reno, Pahrump, and rural areas. If you’re in Nevada and have internet access, you can receive care.
Can I switch therapists if the fit isn’t right?
Yes. If the first provider isn’t the right match, we’ll help you find someone better aligned with your goals. Your comfort and progress come first.
Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes. Research shows that virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person care for most mental health concerns. At Henderson Mental Health, we use secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions to provide therapy and psychiatric services across Nevada. You’ll receive the same level of support, privacy, and clinical care, without needing to travel.
